Sager NP9176 (CLEVO P775TM1-G)

I love this laptop, fully loaded it is a beast I call the desktop killer and to the review before me, the fingerprint function works on windows 10 pro no problems. I only have a few things that bug me which I will list. 1. the power cord is so thick and plugs into the back. I can see I may have an issue with the port or cord in the long run because I do use this as a laptop not on a desk or table. I could be wrong and hope so. 2. The SD card isn't flush when inserted into the system sticks out by about 1mm.
It benchmarked just below the 9900 desktop computers with no overclock or performance enhancements like a champ and runs games like Escape from Tarkov and Arma 3 without missing a beat. Best computer purchase I had ever made hands down even though it's hard on the wallet. Oh, yeah, don't game with this on your lap unless you like the feeling of hot lava being blasted through the air like a hurricane force wind.

This is my second purchase from Xotic PC and Sager. I ordered the laptop with 9900K, RTX 2080, 3000Mhz Ram, 970 SSD NVme and with 144 hz display. The overall performance is excellent, Laptop is well built and rugged but on the heavy and you want to have a semi permanent position for this laptop.

I have encountered two problems,
1) Even though the cooling is well sized and very efficient, 9900k was thermally throttling so i had to clock it down to 4.9 to be able to avoid thermal throttling while playing some gaming numbers. This got me thinking that it would have been better if i would have ordered the laptop with 9700 K as the performance has to drop down and it would have been a little cheaper as well. please dont forget that 9900 k is a very hot chip and i haven't seen any laptop that can cool this chip as it suppose to be cooled. In normal non gaming use the laptop runs quite and cool.
2) i never get to have the touch pad embedded finger print sensor working in spite of trying all the trouble shooting that sager support advised( including Windows reset) to date along with trying all the drivers on Clevo website.

Dealing with your girlfriend:
When I broke the news to my girlfriend that I’ve had purchased a gaming laptop, she first said she’d have preferred if I had found a mistress. I did offer to return the laptop under the condition I was allowed one, but she didn’t accept.
When the laptop arrived, I’ve asked her to hold in on her lap, to feel its weight. Then I suggested she’d pet it. She didn’t do it, but it was worth the shot.
Since she had purchased “The Sims 4”, I’ve suggested we installed it and let her play a little. When the game opened, it didn’t recognize the graphics card (RTX 2070), so it claimed to put all setting on ultra (feels good man). While creating characters, I noticed some Moiré and aliasing effects, so I checked the configurations and it was set to 1080p, instead of 4k.
After changing the setup, man what a difference! Don’t believe anyone telling you that you can’t tell 4k and 1080p apart on a 17,3” screen! While playing my girlfriend was amazed at the colors, definition and smoothness of the game play.

Regarding the laptop:
It comes with the setup already made, so I didn’t need to install a bunch of drivers, but rather start playing on day 1. The 4k screen is beautiful, and I love the disk upgradability. Keyboard is okay but a bit small. Fans get a bit loud but are off most of the time.

9/10 recommended!

This is my second time buying from Xotic PC and I am thoroughly satisfied with both purchases. This particular laptop fits my needs perfectly: I move around the world a lot due to my work so I want to have a powerful computer to handle gaming and other needs. The only drawback is that this laptop is heavy and the battery life is quite short. As such, don't plan on lugging it around for a short holiday; it's best to leave this laptop at a semi-permanent position.
