When most enthusiasts imagine the ultimate gaming PC, Windows is usually the first system to come to mind. However, very few people take the time to investigate whether Apple’s desktops and notebooks are up to the task. Whether you are weighing the pros and cons of building your own PC or buying a prebuilt system, there is always room to learn and grow by exploring the options available to you. In this article, we answer the question on everyone’s minds: are Macs good for gaming? Join us as we examine the hardware configurations and specifications that matter most to gamers. Are Macs Good for Gaming?Despite all the negative attention and claims you might have heard about iOS gaming, we believe that it’s never a bad idea to explore the reasons why Macs have never been in the gaming spotlight. Design: Above all else, Macs are known for their innovative design and unprecedented build quality. One of the main reasons why Macs are not the best choice for gaming is that Apple strives to fit as much computing power in as small a package as possible, leaving little room for massive graphics cards. Mac prices range from $1,000 – $5,000, making them a steep investment for players at all levels. You can find much more powerful PCs for those prices or less, with enough room to make meaningful upgrades over time.Hardware: When it comes to battery life, Macs usually dominate Windows PCs. In fact, the average MacBook can last 7 – 10 hours before calling it a day without a power cord in sight. However, Macs are also notorious for focusing on high processing power and hardware that is not specifically designed with gaming in mind. Apple uses integrated graphical chipsets in many of the desktops and notebooks they produce, leaving dedicated graphics processing units to high-end models. All other models rely entirely on integrated Intel graphics, which can spell trouble for a 4K display.MacBooks are primarily made for creative professionals. However, Apple’s newest MacBooks can now support external GPUs in certain interfaces, such as Thunderbolt 3. Macs also get regular software updates, making them more capable over time. Although the Mac is more equipped for day-to-day computing, there are many ways to play the games you love on a MacBook. Nevertheless, are the performance and price point worth it? That is entirely up to you.Libraries: Hardcore gaming enthusiasts neglect the fact that casual gaming enthusiasts dominate the video game market on mobile devices. With this in mind, it is important to look past large role-playing games and realize that mobile gaming is a market in which Apple leads. As of 2018, the App Store offered more than 800,000 gaming titles. Plus, Apple’s new frameworks can help users port over iOS applications to the Mac, which could motivate large-scale mobile developers to give Macs a second chance. Although the selection is slim, Steam has also been available on the Mac for years, but there are only a few thousand macOS-supported games to choose from. Are Macs good for gaming? I purchased a custom built GX11 H9 and had it built exactly how I wanted which was really nice, threw in a couple upgrades and got a few free things. It took about 2 weeks from order date to the day I was online and playing games. The setup came almost exactly as I had ordered it, they missed the braided cable option and got the wrong colors but that was corrected almost immediately. Otherwise the computer came setup and ready to play and has performed as expected and this was my second build from them and I will continue to buy from them.
First and foremost. I received my PC very fast, within two days I believe. It was packaged with its safety very much so in mind. They did not skimp on any process when it comes to the actual build it’s self, professional level cable management and hardware fitting. The PC is very aesthetically pleasing as well, everything flows together. They go ahead an install any programs you might need to customize the RGB or tune anything beforehand as well. All in all 10/10 build. I would recommend Xotic PC to anyone who is need of a reliable, and professionally built PC. 100% Recommend and 1,000% Satisfied with my purchase!
Love the aesthetic and the build, should have grabbed a better gpu can’t go wrong with a 4 series. Cable management is in point and it was ready out of the box.
